Introducing The 19 Categories For The 2024 Lovin Malta Social Media Awards
The Lovin Malta Social Media Awards powered by McDonald’s are here… and we’ve got a new roster of categories up for grabs for 2024!
Drenched in a nostalgic Y2k aesthetic, the SMAs are back for a fifth edition, featuring everyone from familiar heavyweights to daring newcomers.
The SMAs aim to award the best, brightest and boldest names in Malta’s social media landscape, from activist organisations fighting for our rights to celebrities entertaining us on a daily basis (and everything in between).
A total of 19 awards are up for grabs this year, and while fan favourites are all returning, the 2024 SMAs are also introducing five new awards. Check them all out here:

19. This year’s edition will also see the return of the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award, saved for that superstar all-rounder, who spent a life inspiring, in whatever way leaves an impact. This is the one award which is chosen by the Lovin Malta team, and will be announced after all the other categories. Previous winners of the Lovin Malta SMA Lifetime Achievement Award include journalist and TV veteran Peppi Azzopardi, beloved entertainer Eileen Montesin and boxing legend Bertu Camilleri.
And the best part of this all is that you don’t even have to wait until you can start telling us who you think deserves to win at this year’s SMAs, because nominations are officially open!
With over 1,000 nominations submitted in the first couple of hours and this first phase open up to Monday 21st October, we’re expecting another record-breaking edition of SMAs with some nail-biting photo finishes, so be sure to get your nominations in before it’s too late.
