100 Years Of Wine: Here’s What To Expect At This Year’s Marsovin Summer Wine Festival
Raise your glasses and pop open a bottle of Merlot – Marsovin is celebrating it’s 100 anniversary this summer! A household name in Malta, synonymous with the production of premium wines, Marsovin is getting ready to celebrate of century of local wine at their annual Marsovin Summer Wine Festival in Valletta.
The Marsovin Summer Wine Festival is a great night out for wine lovers of all kinds
Entrance is priced at €20 per person, which entitles you to a set of tokens that you can exchange for wine, as well as a special 100th anniversary wine glass that you can use throughout the festival and then take home to keep. You can go around Hastings Garden with your wine glass and sample the 30+ different local wines that Marsovin will have on offer throughout the festival.
Whether you consider yourself to be a wine connoisseur, need a bit of a break, or just want to expand your horizons and learn about Maltese and Gozitan wines, the Marsovin Summer Wine Festival is just what you need.
There’s also going to be a ‘Wine Educational Area’ at the festival that will teach guests all about wine making and tasting in a fun and interactive way
From the different variations of wine and all the components that go into to it and how to taste wine, this area will teach you all you need to know about wine tasting.
The area will host a blind tasting of a selection of wines during three separate sessions every evening. Guests are invited to taste the wines on their own and try to identify the wines from a provided list. A wine specialist will then provide a guided tasting with information on the different characteristics of the grape variety, wine making techniques and what might affect its final flavour and style. Any guests who correctly identified a number of the wines that they tasted will receive a prize to take home.

Amongst the 30 Maltese and Gozitan wines, Marsovin have highlighted four exciting wines that you cannot miss out on.
The commemorative 100th Anniversary Wine is a rich red wine that was only just launched, but if red wine isn’t your thing (or you just want to try it all), there’s loads more you could try out. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, the Guże Moscato Zibibbo is a sweet wine made from Late Harvest method. The Verdala Frizzante is a light and refreshing newly launched sparkling wine made from indigenous Maltese grapes that will put a bit of a spring in your step.
There’s also the Marnisi that is definitely worth a try, as it is the first (and only) organic wine to be produced locally.
But the Marsovin Summer Wine Festival is about more than just drinking wine
A variety of food from some of Malta’s favourite eateries will be available at the festival. The food will range from sushi by TemptAsian and signature dishes from Fat Louie’s to tasty Maltese classics from The Pulled Meat Company any mouth-watering dishes of pizza, pasta, cold cuts, and loads more. You’ll be able to pair your wine with a hearty plate of whatever you’re craving on the night.

Red Electrick, The New Victorians and The Travellers, as well as multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, Matthew James Borg will be singing their own tunes and giving new life to some of their favourite tracks. The fresh up-and-coming bands Royals and Analise & Band will be singing along to some popular tunes to keep you moving and grooving all night long.
The Marsovin Summer Wine Festival is taking place between the 12th and 14th of July at Hastings Garden in Valletta
