43 Lives Transformed: Inside The Unseen World Of DAR Bjorn
In a quiet corner of Qormi and Żebbuġ, DAR Bjorn stands as a symbol of compassion and unity for individuals grappling with neurological conditions.
With a fearless community of 43 residents, DAR Bjorn has been on a mission to spread joy since it began in 2017 when it opened its first facility in Qormi. With the debut of the DAR Bjorn Żebbuġ on 4th May 2023, the number of institutions now totals two.
These homes have transcended mere buildings and are living proof that compassion knows no limits.
At the heart of this haven are the individuals who have experienced its magical care firsthand. The number stands at an astounding 64, a testament to DAR Bjorn’s unfaltering commitment and love for its residents.
Emanuel Agius, a resident who has spent an astonishing 2092 days under DAR Bjorn’s care, encapsulates the institution’s vow to make a lasting impact. Emanuel’s battle with Multiple Sclerosis has been eased by the steadfast support of the dedicated DAR Bjorn team.
Equally inspiring, is Roberta Farrugia, who, over 1985 days, has epitomised strength and courage in the face of ALS.
Beyond the numbers, DAR Bjorn thrives on the shared laughter, hope, and unbreakable bonds that are formed beneath its roof. And while some residents have moved on to brighter skies, there are many who call DAR Bjorn home. All of their stories continue to inspire.
The geographical range of residents, spanning from Ħal Qormi to Żebbuġ, Ħ’Attard, and beyond, mirror the vibrant personalities of the residents and showcase the unity of a community brought together by a common goal.
This mission has now grown even larger, with the DAR Bjorn team hoping to a third home, complete with respite facilities. The potential to impact countless lives is immeasurable.
So mark your calendars for the telethon being held on the 24th September. On this day, major TV stations across Malta will come together to celebrate DAR Bjorn’s incredible journey. This event presents an opportunity to join a movement that reaches past boundaries and aims to make a tangible difference.
