7 Stages Of A Mosquito Attack In Malta
Sunshine, beaches… and so many bugs. The disadvantage to living that #IslandLife is the sheer number of mosquitoes we have to put up with every year. And no matter where you live, the struggle always follows a similar pattern.
1. You hear it approach
It’s a gentle buzz, but at 3:00am it sounds louder than your alarm. It zips past once and you try to ignore it. Bzzzzzz. It’s back – and it wants blood (literally).
2. You remember you let it live
You saw it earlier this evening but you didn’t feel like finding something to kill it with. You walked past, hoping it would attack someone else. Your lazy or selfish thought process has come back to haunt you.
3. You feel it attack
You don’t notice it until it’s too late. There’s an itch on your shin. It’s made its mark and is drinking away at your life force.
4. You feel nine more bumps
When did it have time to do so much damage? How did you you only just feel it attack now. This means war.
5. You try to beat it at its own game
You switch on the lights and wait for it to panic and find a wall. You begin baiting it to a place within your reach. You don’t care that the rest of the house is sleeping, you’re ready to do what it takes.
6. You move in for the kill
Hoping to not stain your wall with your own blood (a game you know you’ll lose) you flick it with a towel, or chuck an entire shoe at it and hope for the best. This will go on for at least five minutes until one of you loses.
7. You hunt through your medicine cabinet
Everything itches and you need medical help. You hunt through the old tubs of unused creams to find the after bite gel. You feel the soothing texture ease the bumps as your eye catches sight of another bottle. It’s mosquito repellent. You could have avoided this whole drama from the start.
