Happy Independence Day Malta!
This year marks 58 years since Malta gained independence from the United Kingdom and became an independent nation, on 21st September, 1964.
A decade later Malta then went on to become a Republic and British forces finally left the country on 31st March 1979, which is celebrated as Freedom Day.
Independence Day marks the second National Holiday in the month of September following Victory Day, and the last day of the summer season before Autumn sets in.

1. Spend time with family

Taking time out of your day, weekend, or week to learn about Malta’s history is an educational and fun way to celebrate Independence Day. Head to Valletta, Mdina, a pre-historic temple, cave, church or enjoy a nice traditional lunch in Mġarr or Marsaxlokk.
8. Getaway
