The concept of ARTfull Dodger is really exceptional, with cocktails, food, drinks, and an entertainment venue, ensconced within the ancient walls of what was once a drapery shop – off the beaten track and slightly far from the madding crowd.
So why ARTfull?
The name ARTfull Dodger elicits memories of the novel Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens. Whether one is familiar with the character or not, is not important. What matters is to know that the name now denotes a fascinating and totally innovative concept.
The leitmotif is dedicated to the Artfull Dodger himself!
He may not have been the main character in Oliver Twist, but he has become one of Charles Dickens’s most recognised and cherished characters ever.
The ARTfull Dodger is not the same as a hangout in the streets of Victorian London, or even the haunt where the Artfull Dodger’s gang and their thieving boss Fagin lived. Yet, that bleak and squalid feel will be there, thanks to life-size mannequins, and an open fire on cold winter days!
The setting echoes the rugged theme, calling to mind the early 1900s Victorian era, with old brick, vintage furniture, wooden floorboards, and windows-panes adorned with coloured pressed-glass. All this will definitely set the scene!
You might ask, why is ART in upper-case letters?
The answer is as logical as it is simple!
The walls are adorned with framed paintings. A niche in the outlet is also dedicated to up-and-coming artists to sell their work. Anyone interested can contact the ARTfull Dodger team on Facebook.
The price tag is unimportant. The only thing that matters is Art for Art’s sake. And one cliché begets another – beauty is in the eye of the beholder, in this case, the client, for not all art strikes different people as beautiful.

Seeking a wide target clientele, the ARTfull Dodger opens at 7:00a.m. for coffees and cakes, and this melds an array of cocktails served from midday onward, followed by drinks and a variety of tapas.
