When one door closes, another door opens. And sometimes, it’s a van door.

Yugto have developed quite the cult following among punters in Valletta thanks to their delicious Asian street food, however they’ve just announced that they’re closing shop.

And while that will definitely come as heartbreaking news to their fans, there is a light at the end of the bao bun-less tunnel.

Yugto’s new project is a brand new concept in the form of a food truck opening very soon

As the name implies, Yugto Bao Buns will specialise in the traditional steamed bread rolls.

A popular street food snack which originates from Taiwan consisting of steamed buns with various fillings, bao buns were one of the Valletta restaurant’s star items on the menu, and will be taking centre stage for this new concept.

We can also confirm where and when Yugto’s van will be opening

“We have our own spot right in front of Zara,” Yugto main man Shaun Lee told Lovin Malta, sharing a sneak peek of the food truck’s super central new home.

As for the opening? Well, you’ll only have two wait two weeks for that!

The food truck will be serving a more refined and bigger portion of the bao buns they used to serve in Yugto. Expect fillings such as pork, duck and tofu to name but a few.

“Our food is inspired by Taiwanese cuisine,” Yugto explained of the new concept. “Dishes will be represented in a modern way and fused with other Asian cuisines.”

In fact, flavours from Thailand and Japan will also feature on the food truck’s menu.

Yugto’s other signature dishes will be on offer such as the duck spring rolls, Thai red curry, Korean pork belly and they’ve hinted at a lovely looking vegan ramen!
