Mobile users, are you ready for the future of internet speeds in the palm of your hand? If you said ‘yes’ – and you are with Melita – then you are in luck!
Melita Mobile has teamed up with one of the biggest tech companies in the world to launch the most advanced 5G-ready mobile network in Malta. Here are some things you need to know while getting ready for the next generation in mobile internet.
1. Melita is partnering up with Ericsson
Melita is teaming up with Ericsson in preparation for 5G technology hitting the islands. Melita and Ericsson want to create “the most advanced and best performing mobile network in Malta.”
2. You can expect a super-fast 4.5G mobile network first
The 4.5G network will initially provide mobile internet speeds of up to 200 Mbps, and ensure smooth video usage even in the busiest hours. Customers with 4.5G capable devices will soon be able to make use of this brand new mobile network.
3. And the new network will be 5G-ready
That’s right – some of the fastest connectivity speeds in the world will be available in Malta for customers of Melita.
4. Get ready for “excellent coverage across Malta and Gozo”
“What this means is that Melita is committed to providing the best possible mobile connectivity, with high speeds, excellent coverage across Malta and Gozo, and great reliability. In addition, we will be as prepared as possible to roll-out next generation 5G as soon as the technology becomes available,” Simon Montanaro, Melita’s Chief Technology Officer said.
5. Not only that, but they’ve also got GigaPower
Together with the launch of GigaPower – 1Gbps or 1000Mbps fixed internet speeds – for businesses and homes – Melita is at the forefront of building a truly seamless high performing network.
6. Data freedom, here we come!
“With this brand new mobile network and the best fixed internet service in Malta, our customers will enjoy data freedom. Whether using their internet at home, whether they’re on one of the 75,000 MelitaWiFi hotspots around Malta and Gozo, and now when using 4.5G mobile data – wherever they are, we are excited to start this joint journey towards 5G,” said Mireille Muscat, Head of Marketing at Melita.
