Around The World In The New Ford Explorer EV
In a remarkable demonstration of electric vehicle prowess, and female resilience, adventurer and YouTuber Lexie Alford achieved a historic milestone last year, by circumnavigating the globe in the all-electric Ford Explorer.
Her journey, spanning over 30,000 kilometres and covering six continents and 27 countries, epitomised the pioneering spirit of exploration.
Echoing the ‘can do’ spirit of fellow adventurer Aloha Wanderwell, who became the first female to drive around the world a century ago in a petrol-powered Ford, Lexie’s journey in a pre-production prototype Ford Explorer extended from Europe to Africa, then on to Australia, Asia, South America, and North America, before returning to Europe to complete her circumnavigation.
Encountering diverse landscapes and climates, from the temples of Bhutan to the rugged terrain of the Rocky Mountains, Lexie tested the limits of herself and her vehicle. In remote regions like Chile’s Atacama Desert and Zimbabwe’s wild roads, the electric Ford Explorer proved its mettle, showcasing its reliability and endurance.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology and superior specifications, the Explorer ensured a comfortable and seamless journey for Lexie. Features such as SYNC Move infotainment and MegaConsole cabin storage provided convenience and entertainment, enhancing her experience across continents. Crossing the finish line in Nice, France, Lexie and her Ford Explorer led a convoy of iconic Ford vehicles, marking a historic moment in automotive history.
For more than three decades, the Ford Explorer has helped define SUV comfort, performance, and functionality. Combining German engineering with striking American style, the new 2025 all-electric Explorer lineup continues that legacy with a more refined cabin that features sophisticated new colour, texture, and material choices, and introduces the new Ford Digital Experience infotainment system.
“Explorer is a trailblazer for a new breed of exciting Ford electric vehicles,” said GasanZammit CEO Stefan Deguara, “fully loaded with everything our customers will need for their daily drives.”
Available in two highly specified versions – Explorer and Explorer Premium – the new all-electric Explorer can be ordered from local Ford distributors, GasanZammit Motors, with prices anticipated to start from €29,900, after current Government grants on EV vehicles, and the scrappage scheme.
