Costa Coffee Launches 9 New Drinks Just In Time For Summer
Cooling off in summer is about to get a lot tastier as Costa Coffee drops nine brand new flavours starting today. The additions are all 100% summer ready, and range from frostinos to fresh ice teas.
Unveiled at a crowded event in Costa’s brand new Mrieħel Training Academy and shop to be in the coming months, local celebrities sampled the new drinks and spilled the tea (literally) on what they liked about each one.
If you’re not sure which one to choose on your next visit, here’s everything you need to know about the new flavours.
1. Espresso Tonic
An odd, but exciting combination of exactly what it says in the title – a shot of espresso in a tall glass of tonic. Primetime’s Owen Bonnici was quick to point out that this would be the perfect drink to have the morning after a heavy night out.
It’s also a good way to get a shot of energy without downing a hot espresso.
2. Zesty Espresso Tonic
The tangy younger cousin of the espresso tonic, the added orange syrup kick the drink a lot more palatable for those who want to try this unique coffee blend, but aren’t huge fans of concentrated coffee.
3. Red Velvet Frostino
If you’ve got a sweet tooth this is 100% a must-try. It’s creamy and cool and tastes divine. Be warned it’s essentially a dessert in a cup, so make sure you have enough room to enjoy every last sip. It’s the kind of drink you’ll enjoy having on your way to work on a Friday morning.
4. Salted Caramel Frostino
Chucky’s favourite new flavour, the blend of salted caramel in the frothy drink just makes it the perfect summer drink. Even Tina from VIBE FM couldn’t resist going back to this drink for just “one more sip”. Like the red velvet, this one is another mouthful, so save space!
5. Banoffee Frostino
A huge hit last year, Costa decided to bring back the Banoffee Frostino with a little twist. To be honest, we’re gonna need to get one of each Frostino every time we visit. Sugar rush, here we come.
6. Fresh Lemonade
If you’re looking for a fruitier alternative to a good cuppa, the minty twist in Costa’s new fresh lemonade will seriously get you going.
7. Fresh Berry Tea
XFM’s Jay from the Big Breakfast Show was on this faster than you could say ‘Fresh Berry Tea’. The blend of flavours in this ice tea make for an easy-to-drink refreshing summer favourite. A tall glass of this, a good book and a beachy breeze sounds like heaven to us.
8. Watermelon and Coconut Cooler
The actual taste of a Maltese summer. Watermelon goes great with most smoothies, but this ice-cold cooler is worth every brain freeze you might get because it tastes so incredible.
9. Kiwi and Apple Cooler
Another of Chucky’s favourites, this drink had it all – sweet, fruity, fresh and summery. It’s a combination we weren’t expecting, but boy are we glad it exists. And just to take things up a notch, TV’s Moira Delia made the excellent suggestion of getting this drink as a takeaway, adding just a tiny bit of gin and enjoying this by the pool for the perfect summer evening.
