Delivering Growth: How Maltazon and Booze Wagon Are Redefining E-commerce With Wolt

In a world where speed, simplicity, joy and convenience rule, local businesses that can move fast, and deliver even faster with quality, are the ones pulling ahead. Two local companies, Maltazon and Booze Wagon, have harnessed that principle to carve out success in a competitive market. Their common denominator? Wolt.
Originally launched as a food delivery app, Wolt has evolved into a “shopping mall in consumers’ pockets,” delivering everything from groceries and flowers to books, pharmaceuticals, gadgets, and pet supplies, quickly and seamlessly. But its impact goes far beyond consumer convenience or job creation for couriers. For hundreds of local businesses, Wolt has become a full-scale growth engine and has helped them reimagine what’s possible and what’s profitable.
“Wolt gave us the ability to reach more people and deliver faster than we ever could on our own,” Thomas co-founder of Booze Wagon said.

Long before alcohol delivery was mainstream, Booze Wagon was ahead of the curve. Launched in 2019 by Thomas and his co-founders, the online-only store was Malta’s first to bring booze directly to doorsteps.
Today, they’re a Wolt favourite. Whether it’s wine with lunch or beers for pre-drinks, Booze Wagon delivers – chilled and on time. “Wolt gave us the ability to reach more people and deliver faster than we ever could on our own. It’s an excellent partner for any business aiming for quality and sustainable growth.” says Thomas.
Now operating until 4 AM (and eyeing 6 AM on weekends), Booze Wagon is a top performer on the Wolt app, becoming a late-night lifeline especially for younger crowds who want their drinks ready-to-pour, not room temperature. Their well-thought bundles and deals have become a go-to for all kinds of customers and hosts alike. “We track what people are ordering and create bundles to match what customers like. Wolt’s marketing tools make it easy to keep things fresh.”
Like many top partners, Booze Wagon leaned into integration to reduce packing errors and deliver a seamless experience. “Every order now arrives exactly as expected. That consistency is everything.”
With plans to expand both their catalogue and operating hours, their ambition is simple; become Malta’s largest and most loved alcohol delivery brand built for the digital, on-demand lifestyle.
“Our goal is to become Malta’s go-to for anything, and with Wolt, it’s becoming reality,” Flavio, founder of Maltazon added.

When COVID hit in 2020, Maltazon founder Flavio saw opportunity in the chaos. Originally a B2B tech service, the company pivoted quickly, jumping headfirst into the consumer space to deliver essentials that were nowhere to be found, and certainly not delivered fast.
The hook? Wolt. “At the time, traditional couriers were taking three days. Wolt could do it in under an hour. That changed everything,” says Flavio.
Maltazon started small, offering essentials like chargers and COVID test kits. But with every new item added to Wolt’s platform, demand grew. Customers didn’t just want fast; they wanted everything, fast. Today, Maltazon offers over 4,000 products on the platform, from phone accessories and electronics to trending lifestyle finds and even novelty gifts. “The platform is so easy to use. Customers don’t need to register again or re-enter their details. They just go,” Flavio adds.
A turning point came when they integrated directly with Wolt’s backend. Stock levels now sync in real time, rejected orders are rare, and operations run like clockwork. To meet rising demand in the north, they recently opened a second location in St. Paul’s Bay, cutting down delivery times and costs for customers in that area.
“Our next goal? “We want to become the island’s go-to destination for anything. And with Wolt, that goal is firmly within reach”.
From tech to tequila, these two businesses prove that when local innovation meets smart logistics, the results are anything but ordinary. This isn’t just about faster deliveries. It’s about reshaping how local commerce works – for merchants looking to scale and for customers who expect more from every shopping experience.
