Do You Have The Next Big Business Idea? Here’s How You Can Pitch It To Investors Right Here In Malta

Calling all entrepreneurs, innovators, business moguls, inventors and just all-round creative individuals: if you’ve got a business idea that you think could go far, now’s your chance to get to work on it!

MedFest is a first-of-its-kind event here in Malta that will  feature a range of enterprises showcasing local innovation, advice and resources.  But the really exciting part will be the ‘Live Pitches’ for equity finance.

MedFest is based on the extremely successful UK model VentureFest, which began 21 years ago in Oxford

The formula of these events is proven to stimulate investment in innovation, and the concept is making its way to the Mediterranean through the Italy-Malta I-KNOW project.

Through a collaboration amongst two separate business incubators, eight entrepreneurs – four from Sicily, four from Malta – will deliver a high-impact, 10-minute, 10-slide live pitch, in a bid to convince invited private investors (a.k.a Business Angels) to invest in their company.

The four chosen entrepreneurs from each country will be mentored intensively in order to prepare them for the pitches taking place on December 14th 2019 at the Valletta campus of the University of Malta.

So, why should you apply?

Apart from the possibility of financial investment into your business idea, participants will receive expert mentoring, coaching and business advice valued at upwards of €15,000 – absolutely free of charge.

Participants will also become members of the TAKEOFF business incubator at the university where they’ll be trained and guided based on an internationally successful ‘real world’ format.

The call for innovative business ideas is open now, and will close on the 30th September at noon

Enterprise builders who believe they have something special to bring to the world, especially in high-tech, high-growth sectors, with priority to sectors of environmental sustainability and quality of life and human health, are encouraged to sign up by following this link.

The four shortlisted applicants will be announced in October, and will then head off on a three-month mentorship programme before presenting their pitches in December.

And get to work on your ideas!

Preference will be given to: high tech/high growth startups; startups in the sectors of “the quality of life and health of citizens” and “the protection of the environment”.
