Is It Coming Home? Italy Stands In Way Of England In Nail-Biting Euro Final All Of Malta Is Watching

Football is finally coming home… unless Italy has anything to say about it.

The two most popular national football teams in Malta will officially face off in the Euro 2021 finals this Sunday – and the island couldn’t be more hyped.

It’s been a show-stopping Euro 2020 with an endless line of unforgettable moments. Now, just two giant footballing behemoths remain, and the entire nation is on the edge of their seats ahead of the nail-biting encounter.

With Malta split right down the middle, everyone on the islands will be tuning to see whether England can finally take home the European crown or whether Italy can break their hearts and cap off an impressive few weeks.

England’s defence has been impervious and has conceded one goal the entire tournament. The Three Lions do look rejuvenated under Gareth Southgate and could be on course for their first piece of international silverware since 1966.

Free-scoring Italy stands in their way and presents an altogether different challenge than what England have faced so far, with Mancini’s men playing some dazzling football.

Even the bookmakers over at Merdianbet know that Sunday night’s showdown might be too close to call, with England currently just slightly edging out as favourites at 2.80 to Italy’s 2.95.

It’s going to be a tense affair but make no mistake about it, both juggernauts are going to be fighting tooth and nail for the win.

Italy had to go all the way to penalties in the semi-final against Spain – and may just have to do the same against England – with bookies putting the likelihood of a penalty shootout at odds of 4.70.

There has only been one other European Championship final that went to penalties – but in a tournament full of surprises, we could just see one last twist.

England captain Harry Kane is primed for a legendary night with bookies having him as the most likely player to score the first goal at odds of 5.60. Raheem Sterling, who has been England’s main man, is close behind at odds of 8.60.

On the Italian front, bookies think that Ciro Immobile could be the one to break the deadlock and thrust the boys in blue into the lead at odds of 7.40.

Meridianbet also allows you to choose the winning outcome, how many corners each team will take and even bets split according to the first and second half, giving you plenty of options for the night.

With Malta home to avid football fans, particularly when it comes to England and Italy, there are many reasons why one might want to put money on Sunday’s game.
