Finally: A Fresh Take On St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations Is Coming To Malta

St. Patrick’s Day in Malta has become synonymous with large crowds and never-ending traffic jams to the island’s centre, but it doesn’t have to be like that.

In one of the most prominent buildings on Valletta’s Grand Harbour skyline, tucked just far enough from the bustling towns of Buġibba and Sliema, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration with a difference is coming to Malta this year. And the whole family’s invited to this one.

Kalkara’s gorgeous Villa Bighi will be hosting an evening of festivities to mark St. Patrick’s suitable for both adults and kids. “We decided to host this event in order to offer an alternative to the usual crowds,” the organisers told Lovin Malta. And to make sure that the spirit of St. Patrick’s lives on, they’re throwing in a healthy dose of Ireland to the mix.

The Entertainment

Traditional Irish food will be served up (included in the price), and music will be taken care of by Jackson’s Pipe Band and DBanned. Jackson’s Pipe Band have been whipping up some of the island’s best bagpipe-and-drum performances since 1993 now, while DBanned have already brought their magic to the venue before, most notably during its official inauguration last year.

Oh, and let’s not forget those priceless Grand Harbour views.

Event Info

Tickets for the event are €10 for adults and €5 for children, but the food and music aren’t the only things on offer and included with that price.

Other perks include free entry tickets to Esplora for all children, and there will also be free face painting up on offer for the kids… or, you know, the adults, if you’re into that kind of thing.

The evening will also see a number of giveaways and prizes to be won. Most excitingly, two special vouchers worth €2,000 will be given away on the night. These vouchers can be redeemed against events (or weddings) held at Villa Bighi venues, and with a view like that, this giveaway will quickly have any prospective wedding planners hoping they win.

You can secure your tickets to Villa Bighi’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration right here, and stay tuned for more info on the evening on the official Facebook event page.

In the meantime, start planning your green family outfits and get ready to sing, dance and eat the night away!
