6 Graduation Photos All Maltese People Have Posed For
Anyone who’s chosen to further their studies knows that graduation is a pretty big day. You’ve spent countless sleepless nights working on assignments and projects and this one night represents all that. Because of this, it’s no wonder that institutions like Domain Group go all out when it comes to celebrating the achievements of students.
So you know that as soon as you see a camera pointing your way, you’re going to pose, pose, pose.
1. The ‘għal fuq il-gradenza‘ pose
Translation: The ‘we’re gonna keep this one on the shelf’ pose
Holding a prop version of your soon-to-be degree you pose for the photo that’s going to stare at you for the rest of your life. You probably also walked away holding the scroll, forgetting that it’s not yours.
2. The graduation cap swap
Whether it’s a younger sibling trying it on for a glimpse into the future, or a mother who’s so happy to see her child graduate she doesn’t mind(ish) messing up her hair, the ‘wear my graduation cap and pose with me’ look is a staple.
3. The ‘ejja, issa il-familja kollha‘ pose
Translation: the ‘come on, everyone in’ photo
As a nation everyone knows we’re super tight knit with our families, so it’s no surprise that, if left to our own devices, every single member of our family (extended or otherwise) is squeezed into our picture to commemorate the day with us.
If they don’t all fit in one, everyone will wait as we take them in small, manageable clusters.
4. The ‘time for a new profile pic’ pose
Usually done with a significant other, this pose is used to change the old profile photo the two of you had together from five years ago. It’s hard to find a photo you’re both happy with, but since graduation is an excuse to celebrate and dress up you’re both looking stunning in this snap, so it’s a direct upload to facebook and a whole lotta likes waiting to happen.
5. The ‘żomm, ħa ngħinek’ pose
You’re so flustered and excited to be graduating, and there’s so many layers of graduation garb to keep track of, sometimes you need an extra helping hand. From a parent or a friend, there’s always a few snaps of a graduation cap being straightened or a graduation cape to be realigned.
6. The ‘beyond excited’ pose
You almost cannot believe you actually made it. You were so close to giving up, so close to stopping but somehow you carried through. And now you’re standing here taking your graduation photo, it all sinks in and you’re left speechless.
All of these photos, and so many more, were snapped at Domain Academy’s graduation ceremony which took place last Friday. The event, which saw over 50 local and international students graduate in various Degrees and Diplomas of international accreditation, went all out to celebrate their students.
After the classic graduation pictures were snapped, the graduation ceremony began. With speakers ranging from a Dean of the University of Hertfordshire (UK) to the President of Malta herself, the graduates were given one hell of a send off.
After a generous donation by Domain Academy to the Malta Community Chest Fund, the graduates caps were in the air, and everyone was ready to celebrate. The excitement continued with free flowing drinks, food, live entertainment and even a caricature artist to capture the moment forever.
