Here’s How You Can Help Puttinu’s Mission This Year

From the day a baby is born, its parents pray for them to be happy and healthy and to enjoy a long and active life: the idea that they might struggle with a serious illness whilst still a youngster is a terrifying prospect.

It’s your worst nightmare and yet for some families, this is their reality. Yes, you feel terribly sad for them, and if you could step up and do something to help these children and their families, you would, right?

The good news is that you can. The Puttinu Cares Foundation is offering a way for businesses and individuals to make a tangible difference to the experience of these families as they go through an immensely difficult time.

A quick recap

Last year, with the generous support of benefactors, Puttinu Cares was able to buy a building  in central London ten minutes walking distance from Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The Puttinu Cares Foundation lets Maltese families stay for free, and sometimes for many weeks or months, whilst their child undergoes complex treatment. During these dark days, avoiding the additional challenges of finding and paying for a place to stay near the life-saving hospital is a blessed relief.

The importance of supporting patients when they are undertaking therapy away from home is paramount. Providing accommodation close to the hospital not only alleviates the financial burden but is also an important ingredient in the sick child’s cure. Having their parents and siblings close at hand when they are going through these difficult times is not a luxury, but a must.

The facility is now also available to adults requiring cancer treatment too, and at present, between 60 to 90 patients from Malta are receiving treatment in the UK every month.

Your help can save a life

This year, with sponsorship from the caring business community across Malta, Puttinu Cares plans to overhaul, extend and furnish these new premises.

These will then provide ‘Home from Home’ facilities for those who are dealing with their children’s health challenges nearly 3000 km away. If you would like your company to be part of this refurbishment and make a difference, just get in touch.

Puttinu Cares have an upcoming fundraising marathon which will be aired live on all local channels on Good Friday. This years edition will run on April 7th, from 9am to 3pm and 9pm to midnight.

Contributions from your organisation or company made to the Foundation will be announced by the presenter and the logo of your business will be displayed during the live broadcast.

Alternatively, a representative of your company could present your donation live on air on the day for greater impact on the viewing audience.

Also, should you wish to sponsor a room, then a plaque with your name or the companies name will be placed in the room in the apartment in the UK: it’s €10,000 to fit out a kitchen; €5,000 for a bedroom, and €2,500 for a bathroom.

With the support of generous Maltese businesses and contributors both large and small, together we can help Puttinu Cares support even more patients and their families, and their numbers are on the increase every year.

No one ever thinks it’s going to happen to them, but if the unthinkable does happen, you’ll be eternally grateful for a safe place to lay your weary head while you face an uncertain future far away.
