Melita and GO are as big as it gets when you’re talking about pay TV in Malta. The two competitors offer a wide range of programmes and packages, but local sports fans always end up in a bit of a confused flurry when it comes to watching their favourite matches. Thankfully, that’s all about to change.

The two operators have struck a deal to bring Total Sports Network (TSN) to Malta

So wait… what in the world is TSN?

The short answer is; for sports lovers, everything.

TSN has eight HD sports channels which air some of the most requested sports on the planet, and they’re all about to be just a couple of TV remote clicks away.

And what can you watch on TSN? Well, just about everything!

Top flight football including the English Premier League, the FA Cup, Italian Serie A, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa Leaugue, German Bundesliga, Spanish LaLiga, and Malta’s very own BOV Premier League will all be available for viewing. But hey; it doesn’t only stop with football.

Formula 1, Moto GP, Six Nations Rugby and Wimbledon tennis will also be available for your viewing pleasure, so you know what that means; invest in a comfy chair, crack the beer open, and get ready for a busy season of sports.

The historic deal was announced on Monday 6th of August, during an event at Valletta’s Casino Maltese.

“We are launching the richest TGV sports package available in Europe,” Melita CEO Harald Roesch explained. “The breadth of premium sports we’ll be offering will be unparalleled in Europe, and marks another step forward for us in delighting our customers.”

“This will benefit everyone in Malta who loves watching top flight sports, and we are extremely proud to be able to offer such high quality sports to all our customers,” GO CEO Nikhil Patil continued.

The announcement set the scene for an awesome gesture between the two Maltese TV giants, as the two CEOs exchanged their Melita and GO shirts in an act straight out of the pitch.

The partnership was also cleared by the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA), with one condition; that GO and Melita do not discuss subscription pricing strategies with each other.

“Thanks to this collaboration, Malta now has a superb selection of sport and this is happening just in time for the new sport season,” Parliamentary Secretary for Youths, Sports and Voluntary Organisations Dr. Clifton Grima added. “This collaboration shows how two competitors can come together for a great result for their customers, and is an inspiration for all our young sport players in Malta.”

More information on TSN’s eight new sports channels will be published by Melita and GO on their respective websites, along with the separate prices for each.
