WIN: Wasabi Tamago Burger And Chilli Chicken Burger! Sliema’s Japanese Fusion Hub Adds New Mouth-Watering Beauties To Its Menu
If you’re a fan of all things spicy and edible, we’ve got some hot news for you. Ichiban is a Maltese-owned Japanese-burger joint that is serving up our favourite meat and bread combo, but with an authentic Japanese twist.
While they’re still relatively new to the market, they’re determined to keep their menu fresh and indeed they’ve just gone and added two creative concoctions.
We’ve got a sneak peek at them, and they’re pretty darn hot.
Here’s what they’ve been cooking up over in the Ichiban kitchens:
Wasabi Wagyu burger
Wasabi is super famous in the world of Japanese food, but it’s not all about sushi. Ichiban’s new burger combines the spicy green paste with a delicious Wagyu beef patty, together with a chive salad and a Tamagoyaki, a Japanese style egg omelette made by rolling together thin layers of seasoned egg.
Wagyu itself originated in Japan over 35,000 years ago, so this beef burger is a lot more oriental than you may probably think.
Packaged neatly inside a brioche bun, and served with your choice of fries on the side, the Wasabi Wagyu burger is sure to tickle your fancies.
Chilli Chicken burger
A Japanese take on a classic burger; buttermilk-fried chicken. The crispy chicken is covered with a homemade chilli sauce, an avocado sauce, and peppers for some bite. Again, it’s all packaged in a brioche bun with a side of fries.
This chilli chicken burger is inspired by the famous chilli chicken dish from Ichiban’s sister restaurant, Sakura.
All about the fries
Ichiban offers four different types of fries to go with their burgers. Regular and sweet potato fries, as well as two special Japanese variations: Furikake Fries (a mixture of dried fish, sesame seeds, chopped seaweed, sugar, and salt) and Shichimi Fries (a seven-spice seasoning).
Oh, and once you’ve had your burger be sure to order yourself a Taiyaki
It’s a waffle-batter pressed into the shape of a fish and filled with a sweet sauce. The fillings include red bean paste, vanilla custard, and Nutella. And they’re super tasty.
Ichiban’s got a whole load of other tasty burger options too
Like kimchi and teriyaki, prawn katsu patty, and a vegetarian option. And if you’re not feeling adventurous or Japanese, you can always order a simple Wagyu beef burger. Maybe add some cheese to it.
They’ve also got salads, juices, and Japanese teas. And some tasty milkshakes too.
