Finding good places to go on holiday and have fun with your pup isn’t always the easiest thing to do, let alone making plans to take them somewhere with you on holiday. You have no idea how things work, you might not even speak the language… the list goes on. Thankfully, there’s a simple solution that’s just up the road (or sea).

We’re teaming up with Virtu Ferries to help you sort out the perfect trip to Sicily for you, your family and your beloved doggo. Here are seven pet-friendly places you can visit on Malta’s big cousin that are guaranteed to be a blast.

1. Bau Bau Beach

Priolo Gargallo

Bau Bau Beach is a sandy stretch of roughly 15 kilometres that is perfect for dogs. There are agility courses and organised events for pets and owners, as well as showers just for dogs, water bowls and poop bags.

2. Mercato di Ortiga

Siracusa

You don’t need to stress about finding a pet-friendly supermarket to get your grocery fix. Why not visit a typical Sicilian outdoor market for all the freshest and and most local produce?

3. Piazza IX Aprile

Taormina

Piazza IX Aprile is the main square and public living room of Taormina lined with cafes, views and churches. With a view over the Ionian sea on one side, and lined with all the best cafes and caricature artists, it’s the best place to sit back with a cappuccino and enjoy the relaxed ambience of Taormina.
