Live Music Heaven: 5 Massive Acts Taking Malta By Storm This Summer

Article Featured Image

Massive international acts rarely make it to Malta’s shores, and it’s always an event when one does end up on our islands. Last year, we saw huge names like The Hives, Lacuna Coil and The Wailers bring their A-game to tiny Malta thanks to Rock’N Malta, and this year promises to be even bigger.

Now that summer is well upon us, here are five celebrated acts coming to Malta – specifically Aria Complex – in the next two months to get you hyped AF.

1. Gogol Bordello

30th July

We all know that one person who dresses up as a mix between a gypsy and a pirate. Actually, if we had to be honest with ourselves, we know way more than just one person. And on 99% of the occasions, it’s thanks to globetrotting and multi-million record-selling band Gogol Bordello.

As part of their 2018 European tour, the punk-dub-accordion-violin-saxophone-rock Manhattan concoction will be hitting the islands with a dose of colour and theatre that we’ve never seen before.

Beloved alternative locals Brodu will be opening for the incoming bordello.

Tickets cost €25 and can be bought from right here.

2. Julian Marley & The Uprising

18th August

There’s a reason you recognise that surname. Son of reggae legend Bob Marley, Grammy-nominated Julian ‘Ju Ju’ will be bringing down his band to perform not only his own songs, but also a selection of his own father’s songs!

Following last year’s awesome performance by The Wailers, this is set to be another unmissable event for all local lovers of reggae music.

Fan favourites ManaTapu will be representing Malta ahead of Marley’s performance.

Tickets cost €25 and can be bought from right here.

3. Dark Tranquility

24th August

This is the day all Maltese metalheads needs to keep booked. Pioneering Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquility will be bringing their signature Gothenburg sound to the isles, taking headbangers on a ride of a blistering sound 29 years in the making.

As if this somehow wasn’t enough, another big metal name will be sharing the stage with Dark Tranquility on the night.

Tickets cost €25 and can be bought from right here.

4. Evergrey

24th August

That’s right; bone-crunching Swedish prog-metal band Evergrey will be joining Dark Tranquility for a double headline metal bill this August. These guys have a ridiculous 11 studio albums to their name, so it’s safe to say the night is going to be long, intense, and heavy AF.

Supporting both acts on the night will be local prog rockers Colourblind.

Tickets cost €25 and can be bought from right here.

5. Kaiser Chiefs

30th August

If you’re a rock fan but have somehow not managed to find anything you like on this list, then this will definitely tickle your fancy.

Constantly hitting the Top 10 single and album charts and selling millions of records back in the day, the legendary British indie rock band behind some of this generation’s favourite anthems, Kaiser Chiefs will be ending August in style with a set that’ll definitely have you singing to the very end.

Opening the concert will be local punk indie trio, Bila, who will definitely add a whole lotta spunk to the night.

Tickets cost €30 and can be bought from right here.

Tag someone who needs to join you to one or all of these nights!
