Lordi Is Coming To Rock Our Rock
Everyone remembers the year when Lordi took to the Eurovision stage. For an event that is traditionally filled with ballads and pop, the rock entry from a Finnish heavy metal band was a welcome addition.
Whether or not you are a die hard Eurovision fan, you have definitely heard ‘Hard Rock Hallelujah’ at some point in your life and it’s definitely worth another listen as we gear up for the upcoming show!
Their song went on to win the Eurovision in Athens back in 2006 and now they will be playing in Malta for the very first time at the end of this month.
Lordi even prepared a shout out for all the fans in Malta before their arrival.
Formed in 1992, the band is famously known for their extravagant stage costumes as well as horror elements and pyrotechnics. These garnered praise from fans and critics alike to allow them to storm to victory that year in Athens.
The band have toured actively since 2002 and band leader Mr Lordi upgrades their costumes and masks for each album.
‘Screem Writers Guild’, their upcoming 18th studio album, is scheduled for release on March 31st – coincidentally the same date of the Malta concert.
This album is said to feature a ‘cinematic horror movie’ theme throughout. Fans can expect to see a fresh version of the band costumes on show and they will surely not be disappointed.
Throughout the years there have been a number of changes in the lineup with the only constant being Mr Lordi himself. At the moment the current members of the band are, Mr. Lordi on vocals, Kone on Guitar, Hiisi on bass guitar, Mana on drums and Hella on keyboards.
Lordi will be playing at Aria complex on 31st March and it will be a spectacle not to be missed!
Local alternative metal band Damaged & Co will be the supporting act on the night.
