Maypole Celebrates 125 Years With Prestigious Gala Night At InterContinental St Julian’s
The Maypole Group marked a major milestone this November with a distinguished 125th Anniversary Gala Night held at the InterContinental Hotel, St Julian’s.
Over 300 esteemed B2B partners and suppliers attended the event, celebrating the brand’s legacy of quality, craftsmanship and community since its establishment in 1899.
This Gala followed the successful Open Day Event hosted earlier this year at The Bakery in Tal-Ħandaq, Qormi, together forming the group’s two major celebrations for its 125th anniversary.
Both events highlighted Maypole’s enduring values of integrity, innovation and leadership within Malta’s food and bakery industry.
Guests were treated to an exclusive presentation and documentary, reflecting on Maypole’s journey across generations. Directors Mario and Sebastian Debono shared heartfelt messages of gratitude, honouring the people and partnerships that have shaped the company’s success.
A charity online auction featuring over 20 artworks was launched during the event, with proceeds going to the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation, reinforcing Maypole’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility.
From the Gala Night, Maypole proudly raised a total of €10,000. This wonderful contribution will be donated to the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation to support the purchase of the Cool Cap machine, an important tool that will greatly benefit individuals undergoing treatment.
The evening also featured a refined performance by the Omnia String Quartet, setting an elegant tone for the celebration.
A standout moment of the night was the presentation of the Premio Gogol to Carmel “Nenu” Debono, awarded by Michele Calandra. The prestigious honour, previously bestowed on notable figures such as Pope Francis, served as a fitting tribute to Maypole’s legacy of family, excellence and dedication.
