Meet Six Women Currently Making Waves At This Gaming Company Located In Malta
Let’s face it, Malta’s iGaming industry is a male-dominated one, but these six badass women are hard proof that females can (and do) slay it in the industry just as well as men.
They’re kicking butt and taking names by climbing their way to the top at Paddy Power Betfair!
1. Tsvetelina Rizzuto
Head of International Customer Support and VIP
Tsvetelina started at PPB as an agent and grew to Head of International Customer Support and VIP in just four years. She manages a team of 80 people from various departments and at all levels to ensure that her international customers are being perfectly looked after.
She believes in a great work-life balance, and she’s managed to get that thanks to her flexible working hours and the option to work from home.
She travels tons and lived in five countries before settling on the Island!
2. Katie Smith
Senior Trainer Executive
Katie’s main role is to make sure that everyone in the Malta office has their finger on the pulse in terms of the company’s responsible gambling processes.
This is very impressive considering she was working in a completely unrelated field beforehand (she was cabin crew for five years before joining Paddy Power Betfair).
She applied for a training role while she was still on probation and as soon as she passed, she got the job the very next day (pretty badass if you ask us).
3. Annemarie Mallia
Customer Service Team Leader
Annemarie’s varied role (which she got promoted to at the age of 21 after working her way up the ladder from a Customer Service Agent role) involves her managing a team of around 15 people.
She works on a flexi basis, which basically means she kind of chooses her own hours (lucky!). That definitely comes in handy given all the fun social events her company plans on a regular basis.
She started as a part-timer while studying for her ACCA exams to become an accountant. After leaving her audit firm, she still continued her studies whilst working full time at Paddy Power Betfair!
4. Maria Bonnici
Fraud Team Leader
No fraudulent activity passes by Maria. She makes sure to not let any illegal financial behaviours slip through the cracks, and she does it well.
Maria also manages and motivates teams in both Malta and Dublin offices, which helped her win an agility reward among some 300 employees.
5. Andrea Cacciatore
Customer Champion and Complaint Executive
In a nutshell, Andrea is the voice of the customer within the company, ensuring there are positive changes in their customer experiences. If a customer has a complaint, she’s the person who’ll fix it.
Before Paddy Power Betfair, Andrea was a scuba diving instructor for five years. After only three years of being with the company, she made it all the way up to this executive role (she never thought that this could happen)!
6. Ramona Mifsud
Finance Assistant/Accounts Payables
Ramona must be on a lot of people’s favourites list because she makes sure that the employees and suppliers get paid on time. She also settles the company’s bills, helping make sure both financial fronts are sorted.
Ramona started around 11 years ago in a front-of-house role, and she worked her way up to her very important current role.
Not only does she manage a pretty demanding full-time job, she is also a freelance make-up artist!
One thing all these women have in common is how Paddy Power Betfair is empowering them!
Each praised the flexible working hours, the fact that they can work for home if they want to, and the fun regular social events that their company organises. Mix that with stunning offices and office pranks, and you’re onto a winner!
But the most important thing is how women-friendly the office is. Gender equality is a huge thing there, with female employees getting promoted and working their way up the career ladder the exact same way as men.
And guess what? They’re recruiting and are encouraging all potentials with XX chromosomes to apply!
