Ever since the American transport giant Uber first launched in 2010, the worlds of technology and everyday lifestyle merged in an unprecedented way. All of a sudden, getting round in cities became as simple as a few taps on your smartphone. Now, thanks to Taxify, there’s a new name taking the European cab industry by storm, and it’s set to continue making a huge difference in Malta with its latest initiatives.

The concept behind Taxify is as simple as it is useful. Basically, if you need a lift to anywhere in the city (or, in Malta’s case, anywhere in the country), all you need to do is go on the Taxify app, select your vehicle preference, set your location, and wait for your ride. The closest driver to you will be selected, and you can actually see them getting to your location on the map in real time.  Taxify also gives you the opportunity to pay for the trip automatically and rate individuals drivers, all through the same app.

If you’re a driver, this news is just as exciting, with Taxify offering both full-time and part-time opportunities for drivers to earn money on their own terms. The company even offers assistance with renting a car and a smartphone if you like the idea but need some help setting up. And all it takes is a five minute sign-up and a short training in their offices. Taxify’s only fee is between 15% to 20% of the ride fee (depending on the city), but this in itself is way better than any of its big competitors.

Taxify have been operating in Malta since March 2017 and growth is expected to accelerate fast as the popularity of the app is very high. Most cabs with number plates ending with a Y are going to be on the app soon.. And they’re also planning to get more cabs to the island! This October, Taxify will also be making it possible for businesses to open corporate accounts with the company.

So, why Taxify?

The short answer is, it’s the fastest and cheapest way to get around by cab.

The long answer is, the average waiting time for a cab was 25 minutes, and with Taxify, it’s going down to 5 – 7 minutes. You can also see the price of the journey before booking, so you won’t have any nasty surprise by the time you get to your destination.

If you’re excited as we are about this, you can sign up now by downloading the Taxify app from iTunes or Google Play. More info on Taxify in Malta can be found on the the Taxify website.
