Puttinu Cares Expands: A New Floor To House More Families In London

Puttinu Cares is thrilled to announce a major milestone in its ongoing mission to support Maltese and Gozitan patients traveling to the UK for life-saving treatment.
With 20 apartments already available near the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, the organisation has now purchased a new property in Central London, just 10 minutes from Russell Square near Great Ormond Street Hospital.
To further increase capacity, planning permission has been granted for an additional floor, bringing the total number of free apartments to 49!

A Vital Expansion – 29 More Apartments for Families in Need
This significant expansion, once thought impossible, is now a reality thanks to the generosity of countless donations and the tireless efforts of the Puttinu Cares team. The new building will be named in honour of the late Dr. Victor Calvagna, a beloved figure whose dedication changed so many lives. With this expansion, even more families will have access to free accommodation while undergoing treatment, easing the financial and emotional burden during an already difficult time.
Join the Puttinu Cares Good Friday Marathon – 18th April 2025
To complete this project and ensure that families in need receive the support they deserve, the Puttinu Cares Good Friday Marathon will take place on 18th April 2025, broadcast live on all Maltese TV stations from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and from 9:00 PM – midnight. This annual event brings the community together in an extraordinary display of generosity, helping to fund essential projects like this expansion.
How to Help – Sponsor a Room & Leave a Lasting Legacy
Puttinu Cares invites individuals and businesses to contribute by sponsoring a room, ensuring patients and their families have a home away from home while undergoing treatment in the UK.
Kitchen – €10,000
Bedroom – €5,000
Bathroom – €2,500
Those who donate can have their names, the names of loved ones or company logos engraved on plaques placed within the apartments as a permanent tribute to their generosity. As an additional gesture of gratitude, every name or business logo will be prominently displayed during the Good Friday Marathon, ensuring widespread recognition for their kindness.

A Testament to Community Strength
Two decades ago, families had to arrange and pay for their own accommodation while undergoing treatment in the UK. Today, thanks to the compassion of the Maltese and Gozitan people, patients receive free accommodation for as long as necessary. This initiative continues to amaze outsiders, who find it hard to believe that such a system exists purely through community support. This is the power of unity and generosity.
Even those unable to sponsor a room can still help by spreading the word and encouraging others to contribute. Every donation, no matter how small, plays a role in making this expansion a success.
