Ribs To Die For And Killer Cocktails: 24 Menu Items To Celebrate 24 Years Of Tex Mex In Malta
Malta’s favourite steakhouse just turned 24 and to celebrate, they’ve overhauled their entire concept for… sushi? Well, not exactly… it’s actually called Que-Shi – an amalgamation of barbeque and sushi – and serves to satisfy even the wildest of cravings.
It is a certainty in life that no matter how long you and your klikka spend debating over where to head for dinner, there will never be a unanimous decision when it comes to what everyone actually feels like eating. Tex Mex’s latest venture has delivered a solution: give. them. everything.

OK, so it’s not exactly offering everything, but it is close enough.
Everyone loves sushi and everyone loves charred meat. Put the two together and you have one of the best flavour trips your mouth will ever take. Sticky, slightly vinegared rice meets meat worthy of an Asgard feast.
Your chicken drummettes have gone down a treat, you’re ready for your three-blend beef burger… but wait! You’re feeling adventurous today. Why not feed that hunger with a deep-fried teriyaki chicken ball? How does a pulled pork rice roll sound? Slap some crispy bacon on that plain-jane salmon roll – you know you want to.
Each serving of que-shi comes with the choice of three dips: wasabi mayo for the OG sushi fans, teriyaki for the seasoned-taste-travellers or a honey sriracha for literally everyone… because sriracha.
While still sticking to their guns when it comes to barbequed meat, Tex Mex has widened its scope with an Asian influence over the years and as well as their new cold rice and warm meat love-child, they’re offering items like Poke bowls. Don’t worry – their island famous ribs are all on the menu in Spinola, too!
Nobody does over-the-top quite like Tex Mex has been doing for almost a quarter of a century, and they certainly kept to expectations with their anniversary party.
We were lucky enough to get a chance to pop in and check out what all the fuss has been about since they opened their new venue in Spinola Bay. And we were so impressed, that we thought we’d honour their marvellous milestone by showing off 24 of their dishes (we would pick the best if we could, but neither can you, so we won’t).
Tex Mex’s classic three-blend beef is here to stay, but there’s a new kid on the burger block in the form of the Connoisseur – four cuts of prime beef, minced on-site and seared to perfection (read: medium-rare). Cheese is optional, free of charge, and highly recommended.
DJ Mykill kept the speakers shaking from behind the decks while food flowed from the kitchen in a constant stream, wowing the stomachs of every partygoer. Even Gaia couldn’t hold in the excitement of seeing two staple cuisines come together in the ultimate food mashup we didn’t know we needed.
Ryan’s left some pretty big boots to fill when they closed their doors in St Julian’s, but Tex Mex Que-Shi have done a great job of making sure those boots were well walked-in! Here are 24 mouth-watering items available at select Tex Mex locations around Malta:
