Maltese milk producing giants Benna have rolled out a range of new products exclusively intended for people who want to lower their blood cholesterol level.
The products, branded Bennalife, include a fresh skimmed milk drink with added plant sterols and light yogurts also with added plant sterols.
Even though cholesterol helps the body to function properly, high level of LDL-cholesterol can end up having a negative impact on people’s health. With its ability to narrow arteries and restrict blood flow, high levels of cholesterol in people’s blood need to be avoided since this can also increase the risk of coronary heart disease. That’s where the Bennalife products come in.
While maintaining its fresh properties and nutrition, what Benna have done with this latest range is add plant sterols, a natural ingredient which has been proven to lower cholesterol. Each Bennalife milk carton contains 2.3 grams of plant sterols, while each yogurt contains 2.1 grams. That means they’ll each be providing the daily recommended amount of plant sterols… along with some different flavours. The Bennalife yogurts (sold in a two-pack carton) are available in three different flavours; vanilla, red fruits and apple.
Benna has said that their new products, if consumed on a daily basis, will help lower LDL-cholesterol by 7 to 10% within two to three weeks. Of course, Benna went on to say their Bennalife products should be “consumed as part of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle to help keep your LDL-cholesterol levels under control.”
All the milk used in the production of the new range, as in all other Benna products, is 100% fresh Maltese milk. This makes it the first of its kind in the Maltese Islands.
Benna’s new range of products is now available nationwide at all major retail outlets.
