The magic of live music is one that will never fade. Whether you’re a fan of classical music, the world of musical theatre, or just like a good cultural night out, nothing is as powerful as watching a 70-piece orchestra live.

This summer, the BBC Concert Orchestra is coming to Malta for a free concert and an unforgettable night of live music

The BBC Concert Orchestra is the resident orchestra for BBC Radio 2, the UK’s most listened to radio station with over 15.36 million listeners worldwide. Every Friday, they perform on the world’s longest-running live orchestral music show on Radio 2 called ‘Friday Night is Music Night’, which has been running for over 60 years now.

Specialising in music from the worlds of theatre, cinema and TV, the BBC Concert Orchestra has brought many a film score to life, serenading the ears of listeners all over the world. The orchestra also performs every year at the world-famous BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and alongside the other BBC Orchestras provide the backbone to the world’s greatest classical music festival.

Some specific concerts that the BBC Concert Orchestra has held include the music of Queen, the film score of John Williams, The Wizard of Oz, and Disney and Broadway classics.

At their Malta concert, the orchestra will be performing a myriad of scores from movies that were filmed right here on our island

Malta is a major Mediterranean movie star. Over 100 spectacular films have been shot here including The Da Vinci Code, Midnight Express, Troy, The Spy Who Loved Me, Popeye, Never Say Never Again and Gladiator. And of course, it’s also famously served as a principal location for the hit TV series Game of Thrones.

The night will also include music from popular movies of today like Frozen, Bohemian Rhapsody, Mary Poppins Returns and The Greatest Showman.
