No Phones And Family Time: 7 Dos And Don’ts For Sundays In Malta
Spring in Malta has officially sprung. The days are getting longer, the temperatures higher and everyone becomes that little bit happier.
We like to keep Fridays and Saturdays for having fun with friends, but Sundays are a must for nice chilled afternoons to relax and rewind… or gossip about the life choices you made on Saturday night.
Let’s replace TGIF with TGIS and make sure you use your time wisely before the Monday Blues creep in the next day.
How? Well, here we go.
1. Do spend time with loved ones
We love to spend Sundays with our nearest and dearests. Whether it’s for a Sunday lunch with the whole family or a big foodie gathering with a group of friends, wind down the week with the people who matter most.
2. Don’t keep your eyes glued to your mobile phone
Put your phone down and stay away from work emails, memes, messages that can wait or social media (unless your taking pics with your friends or of food porn). Especially while at a lunch or dinner table.
That’s just rude.
3. Do explore the great outdoors
May we suggest exploring an area with plenty of striking sea or country views? You’re probably going to be stuck at a desk the next day again, so make the most of it and admire the most beautiful scenes that Malta has to offer.
4. Don’t let a hangover ruin your Sunday plans
A wasted Sunday sucks! If you’re hungover there are two options; cure it with a big hefty bottomless food buffet or hair of the dog. Vino anyone?
5. Do treat yo’ self!
Have that extra slice of cake you’ve been staring at; indulge in some gourmet food and allow yourself to eat more than you usually would.
You deserve it. Aren’t Sundays cheat days anyway?
6. Do enjoy a nice long Mediterranean Sunday lunch at Solana
Stuck on ideas for that ultimate Sunday indulgence? How about heading over to Mellieħa for a gourmet buffet fit for a family?
If you’re thinking that the words ‘buffet’ and ‘gourmet’ should never be used in the same sentence, then you clearly haven’t been to Lavish Sundays at Solana’s Bellini Restaurant.
The dishes on offer are very vast and include a huge selection of antipasti, creative salads, seafood, fish and cold cuts (that’s just to start). There’s a Farm to Table section full of super fresh produce and Maltese specialties.
You’ll find a live pasta station with a selection of different kinds of pasta and sauces. The pasta is cooked right in front of your eyes, doesn’t get fresher than that.
For mains you will be spoilt for choice; be it fish, meat, poultry and our carvery station.
Oh, and if you are not a meat lover, there’s a section dedicated to vegetarians.
Don’t you dare try and skip dessert; whether or not you have a sweet tooth, there’s something for everyone.
From cakes, puddings, chocolate bite treats, decorative desserts and ice-creams to international cheeses to complete your meal like a true mediterranean.
Lavish Sundays are extremely family-friendly. Not only because of their dedicated kids play area, but for the pricing too.
The buffet is priced at only €27.95 per adult and children aged 3-15 years old eat for FREE (a maximum of three kids with every two adults).
In addition, the price includes free-flowing drinks including wine. I repeat, free-flowing wine. Thank God for Sunday!
Tag someone who’d love to do this on a Sunday!
