Timeless Music Meets Stunning Architecture At This Unique Festival In Malta

Music lovers rejoice, Malta’s favourite classical music festival is back! Now in its sixth edition, The 3 Palaces Festival is set to bring a myriad of talented performers from all around the world together in one beautiful celebration of music and architecture.

Set in the beautiful National Museum of Archaeology in Valletta, concerts ranging from percussion duos to viol consorts are bound to bring joy to an music lover on the island.

Lovin Malta has picked out five performances that we really think you should know about.

1. The Koncz String Trio

3rd November at 8pm

A string trio led by Christoph Koncz, principal of the Vienna Philharmonic. This trio is sure to mesmerise you with their beautiful string melodies from the likes of Haydn and Mozart.

2. O Duo

7th November at 8pm

Olly and Owen are a percussion duo from the UK whose repertoire spans more than 300 years and is an exciting mix of popular classics and accessible contemporary music played on two marimbas, vibraphone and a huge array of percussion instruments.

3. Phantasm

9th November at 8pm

An award-winning consort of viol players. Viols are string instruments that are made of wood, look like violins, but actually aren’t.

Phantasm was founded in 1994 by Laurence Dreyfus and has become recognised as the most exciting viol consort active on the world scene today.

4. Les Musiciens du Louvre

10th November at 8pm

This ensemble of musicians from France is known around the world for their ability to breathe fresh air and new life into the well known repertoires of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras.

5. Charlene Farrugia

11th November at 8pm

This Maltese pianist is the winner of the 2018 International Achievement Award within the first edition of the Premju g?all-Arti.

Charlene is an international ambassador for EMMA for Peace under the patronage of UNESCO and honorary president Riccardo Muti.

Running from the 2nd to the 11th November 2018, this year’s festival is sure to please all classical music lovers. You can buy your tickets for each performance here.
