New Friends And New Skills: Maltese Youths Could Go Abroad For Free With This Exciting Voluntary Organisation

Article Featured Image

Have you ever wanted to spend some time doing voluntary work abroad? This local voluntary organisation is helping youths from all over Malta find opportunities to take part in international voluntary exchanges.

TDM2000 was founded in March 2005 with the aims of achieving a greater consciousness of international cooperation, mutual understanding and the need to be active in today’s society. The local branch of TDM sent over 50 persons to 20 exchanges around Europe and its neighbouring countries last year alone.

Oh, and did we mention they cover the majority of the trip’s costs?

These exchanges and placements are usually a part of the Erasmus+ programme, so a lot of the financials will be covered. Accommodation and food for the trip is free of charge, and flights are heavily reimbursed.

So you’re basically getting a free trip, and you get to work on some exciting things and make new friends.

Over the past 14 years, this organisation has been giving youths from Malta and Gozo the opportunity to participate in interesting events such as music marathons, sports events, carnival competitions, themed parties, environment awareness campaigns, cultural meetings, debates with decision makers and career based placements.

During these ‘youth mobility’ programmes, young people meet individuals coming from different backgrounds and different realities to discuss and collaborate on activities using non-formal learning methodologies.

The topics vary from democracy to art, theatre and music, culture and traditions, youth employability, youth tolerance and many more. On returning from these programmes, most youths say what a good time they had and how much they learnt from the young persons or decision makers they met.
