Things Every ACCA Student In Malta Will Know To Be True
Until you’ve actually sat through your ACCA you can never really understand why it’s all your friends in it seem to talk about. One of the main reasons they don’t stop is because so many of the experiences ACCA students have are extremely universal. Here’s just a few of them:
1. The excitement when you first start is real
You’re about to do something totally different from the usual system… the same system you’ve been in for at least 16 years of your life. You’re not at uni or sixth form. You’re doing your own thing and it’s gonna be so great.
2. The fear that follows is also very real
“You’re about to do something totally different from the usual system… the same system you’ve been in for at least 16 years of your life” – it works both ways.
Will I ever get anywhere? Is this really what I want to do for the rest of my life?
3. You’ve learnt your ‘ACCA x’ikun?‘ explanation by heart
“… you see ACCA is an international qualification that will allow me to be a part of the largest and fastest-growing global body of…”
4. But eventually you accept that some people won’t ever get it
“Ija nann, l-Universita ok ta!”
5. All of your friends somehow know you’re doing ACCA
Because like it or not, every conversation leads back to it.
6. And you end up the butt of so many jokes
“Guys I can’t come to the party tonight, I have to work on th-“
“Jaqaw qed tagħmel l-ACCA?“
7. Your thoughts about skiving only last a few seconds
Before you remember that you’re actually paying for this, and fondly remember the good old days at JC when a slight yawn meant it was time to go home and nap.
8. Every minute after 1:00am on results day feels like an hour
Seriously – they know the results why can’t they just send them to us?!
9. And you haven’t really passed an exam unless you post a status at 3:00am when the results are finally in
“I’d like to thank coffee and pot noodle for all their constant support…”
