Things We Would Be Struggling With If It Weren’t For Women

We should all be celebrating women this month—and spoiling them too!

Ladies and gentlemen, take a moment to consider this—without women, we would be struggling with wet windscreens, chaotic nappy-changing and dry hands for days caused by dish soap. It’s safe to say women have saved us all from a lot of unnecessary stress.

This Women’s Day, we’re not just celebrating the wonderful women in our lives—we’re also paying tribute to the sheer brilliance of female inventors who have made life infinitely easier.

And what better way to show some appreciation than by treating the incredible women in your life (or yourself—because self-love is key) with a well-earned treat?

Where would we be without women?

Driving in the rain with no visibility – Ever been caught in a storm, madly flailing your arms out of the window to clear your windscreen? Thank Mary Anderson for windshield wipers.

No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth (gasp!) – If it wasn’t for Hedy Lamarr’s pioneering wireless technology, we might still be tripping over tangled cables. Imagine a world where your AirPods don’t exist. Terrifying.

Endless, leaky nappies – Marion Donovan saved parents everywhere when she designed the first waterproof disposable diaper. As much as we love babies, we’d rather not deal with constant accidents.

Dishwashing all day, every day – That’s right! It was Josephine Cochrane who invented the first dishwasher, so we wouldn’t have to spend half our lives elbow-deep in soapy water.

Risky childbirth – Dr. Virginia Apgar introduced the Apgar Score, which helps doctors assess newborn health immediately after birth. A true lifesaver.

Clothes ruined by stubborn stains – Patsy O’Connell Sherman’s Scotchgard fabric protector makes sure our favourite outfits don’t get destroyed after one wear.

No home security? No thanks. – Marie Van Brittan Brown invented the first home CCTV system, paving the way for modern security solutions. Now we can check who’s at the door before answering it in our pajamas.

Grocery shopping would be a nightmare – Margaret E. Knight designed the square-bottomed paper bag, making grocery runs infinitely more manageable. Imagine trying to carry all your snacks in flimsy, tube-shaped bags.

Struggling with a hyperactive dog? – Mary A. Delaney created the retractable dog leash, giving pet owners a much easier way to walk their energetic pups without constantly tangling themselves up.

Bulletproof vests and helmets? You can thank a woman for that too! – Stephanie Kwolek developed Kevlar, the super-strong fibre used in bulletproof vests, helmets and more. Absolute game-changer.

Now, Let’s Celebrate!

Since we owe so much to the genius of women, it’s only fair that we give them the appreciation they deserve. Cue DealToday, because what better way to say ‘thank you’ than with an indulgent spa day, a relaxing weekend getaway, or a fancy dinner?
