If you’re the sort of person who’s constantly thinking of ways to make Malta more awesome, there’s an event happening later this month that you absolutely cannot miss.

The EY Malta’s Annual Malta Attractiveness Event seeks to answer some crucial questions about Malta’s present and future. Will self-driving cars solve our traffic problem? How can we upskill our workforce for the next phases of automation and AI? Is Malta on its way to becoming the blockchain capital of the world?

These are just some of the issues that will be tackled by the event’s 60 speakers which include Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and PN leader Adrian Delia. There are also some big foreign names headlining the event: former BBC reporter Kate Adie, EY’s Global Blockchain Leader Paul Brody, and EY’s Global Tech Leader Keith Strier.

And the starting point for the entire discussion is the Malta Attractiveness Survey, a national survey of current foreign investors. The survey seeks to quantify and measure Malta’s attractiveness to investors worldwide and seek ways of improving it. These annual results have now become the weather vane in the country for investment, both locally and abroad.

This is the 13th edition of the mega-conference and this year’s theme is: Thinking without the box: disruption, technology and FDI. (For the uninitiated, FDI stands for Foreign Direct Investment, which is basically how much foreign cash is being injected into Malta. Spoiler alert: A lot.)

Through a series of keynote speeches, panel discussions and break-out sessions, the conference will explore ways for government and businesses to harness the power of disruptive innovation. Because lets face it, we all want to be the disruptor, rather than the disrupted.

This is Malta’s largest business and investment forum and this year it’s going to be bigger and better than ever. Moving to the InterContinental’s Arena Conference Centre in Malta, more than 700 public and private sector leaders and international investors are expected to attend. Clearly, it will also be an incredible networking opportunity.

EY’s Annual Attractiveness Event is well-known for its dynamic Break-Out Sessions – a chance for delegates to splinter-off into sector-specific discussions, and literally think without the box. This year will see the introduction of a new exciting format plus very current themes, including blockchain, technology, Brexit, skills, infrastructure, transport, Gozo and iGaming. Lovin Malta will be chairing the Break-Out Session about startups.

The event takes place on Wednesday 25th October from 9am till around 5pm.

Tickets to this event sell out every year, but this time EY has teamed up with Lovin Malta to reach out to aspiring entrepreneurs and make sure the younger generations of disruptors are also well represented. To win two passes, just send in three ideas of how YOU would make Malta more attractive to investors.
