There is no excuse not to keep healthy in 2018 - while several different factors do contribute to our overall wellbeing including genetics and lifestyle, it is our responsibility to be on our A-game when it's comes to healthy living.

Enter Hudson’s Prevention is Better Than Cure campaign - a smashing new Pink October initiative aimed at keep you healthy in all life aspects.

As the representatives of major brands such as NIKE, Hudson as a company believes that promoting a healthy lifestyle is the way to go. This campaign was launched in light of Pink October, so they have gone through the process of putting together some kick-ass ways to help you stay healthy and raise awareness for this important cause.

1. Reduce your risks with every bite you take

As the saying goes: you are what you eat. Eating processed and fast foods not only leaves you feeling sluggish and tired, but it's also not the best nugget of energy for your body. Healthy choices and a balanced diet are vital to overall wellbeing, and while a healthy diet does not guarantee a cancer-free life, you're lowering the risk significantly.

2. Mother Nature is your BFF

When it comes to food, the fresher the better - so why not base your diet on what this planet gave you in its finer form? Fresh fruits, vegetables and other plant-based choices should be your go-to when it comes to your meal prepping.

Not only will your body feel more energised, but you will also see some changes for the better when it comes to stamina. Opting for natural sugars instead of refined ones, getting your five-a-day everyday, and reducing your overall consumption of meat products will all give your body a much deserved boost.

3. Limit your binge drinking

So, every Mediterranean dinner is not complete without a glass of wine - the key here is moderation, no matter the food or drink. Limiting your alcohol intake is important!

Not only is binge drinking terrible for your health, you’re also opening the door to all those darned empty calories and sugar. We’d trade in a glass of wine for a good filling meal any day.

4. You can achieve anything if you put your mind to it

A positive mindset is one of the best things you can ever give yourself. Not only will you be happier, but you will also be less stressed. Studies show that the less stressed you are, the less likely your are to contract a disease too!

Remember, you cannot control what happens in your life, but you damn well can control how you react it. So put on your positive shoes and kick negativity’s ass like there’s no tomorrow.

5. Check the junk in your trunk

Spotting cancer at an early stage saves lives, so please, please, please go and get yourself checked ASAP.

You can do at-home checks on yourself, but regular scheduled check-ups with your GP should be the order of the day. The important thing is to get educated - speak to your doctor, go home, get naked and check yourself for irregularities!

6. Exercise is the key to happiness

Now we’re not talking full blown gym buffs and stuff, but working out for a 30 minutes a day will make you feel better about everything. Physical activity is a great way of lowering health risks including cardiac arrest, stroke, breast cancer and colon cancer.

And if you haven’t worked out in a while don’t sweat it - start off slow, you'll hit your target eventually. Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, so pick out something you enjoy doing; whether it's walking around solo to joining a class with your buddies, all you need is determination and motivation.

As part of their campaign, Hudson is also committing to helping its customers lead a healthy lifestyle, with lines of workout clothing and equipment to be found at a number of their stores, including House of Sport and GO Sport.
