Time To Adopt Your New Best Friend!

We are a country that loves animals – in our homes, in the areas where we live, and even outside in the countryside, they’re everywhere. And most times, we can’t get enough of them.

Protecting our animals requires a collaborative effort by everyone: Officials from the Animal Welfare Department, activists, and NGOs, we need to strengthen the love that already exists, and encourage more and more people to take the next step.

The Volunteers in these animal sanctuaries work tirelessly, taking care of the animals most in need of love and care. By neutering strays in these different communities, they ensure a healthier animal population. Preventing the spread of diseases in the areas where we live, also contributes to our human well-being.

However, without the help of the Maltese and Gozitan people, these volunteers can only help. Unlike other sectors, the love for these animals begins within our homes, and is influenced by all the decisions we make every day, on an individual basis.

Why? Ultimately, the end goal for all this effort, is to encourage more families to take another step and adopt.

A decision like this requires a lot of thought and planning. While educational resources are abundant, they continue to encourage more families to welcome a dog, cat, or another animal into their homes.

We need to give these animals a chance and welcome them into our homes.

This is a step that offers many advantages, both on an individual and social basis. This permanent love for these animals has a significant impact on our mental and emotional health. Animals are also important for us to remain physically active, helping us explore different landscapes in our country.

That is why, on the 8th of December, Festa Annimali will be celebrating the potential impact that these animals may have on all of our lives. By inviting officials from the Animal Welfare Department, activists, and NGOs working in the field, professionals, veterinarians, as well as those who have already taken this brave step, we want to continue to encourage more animal adoptions within our country.

Festa Annimali will be a celebration of adoption. To encourage more people to consider taking this step and provide support to those who have already made efforts to give the best care to their animals.

They will introduce more people to the recently-launched Adopt a Pet platform, and all the  available means by which one may decide to adopt an animal. It’s a great way to find out which new family member is a good fit for your home.

This initiative will organise discussions and exhibitions on what one should consider when adopting animals. Also to those who have already opened their homes and hearts to formerly abandoned animals, they are invited to share their experience, thus encouraging more families to follow in their footsteps.

All this will be done in an atmosphere of joy and fun for the whole family. As we approach Christmas, there will be many food exhibitions, games, and other initiatives related to this festival that are dear to the hearts of all Maltese people.

Festa Annimali will be an opportunity for more animal lovers and volunteers to explain what their routine consists of. To provide them with more assistance, they will organise fundraising activities, including a bike ride, with the aim of providing additional assistance to our abandoned animals, as well as the feeders who do such important work every day.

So join in on this celebration!

A tribute to our animals and their diversity. A salute to those who have provided new opportunities for animals in need. An opportunity for you to take the next step.

See you there!
