Uniting Nations: Celebrating Cultural Diversity In Ta’ Xbiex
The cultural event “Connecting Through Culture” is back for its seventh edition!
With free entrance and taking place in Ta’ Xbiex, on Saturday 24th of June, starting at 7pm, this event will be held once again on the promenade between the Ta’ Xbiex Waterpolo Cluband the Royal Malta Yacht Club.
The road will be closed off to create a more public-friendly atmosphere against the backdrop of the sea. This activity is organized by the Ta’ Xbiex Local Council.
This is the seventh edition of this event, which has gained a lot of interest and participation from ambassadors and consulates in previous years. The event’s popularity has become a fixture in the calendar of locals, tourists, and even foreigners residing in Malta.
Bringing together people from different nations through culture, while showcasing performances by local and international artists, thanks to the involvement of a greater number of diplomatic missions, Ambassadors and diplomatic residences in Ta’ Xbiex, as well as others from outside this locality.
As in previous years, each participating embassy, along with the Ta’ Xbiex Local Council, will showcase their respective country’s culture through music, cultural heritage, crafts, or gastronomy. There will be a number of Maltese artisan stands, various bands, singers, dancers, musicians, and other surprises.
The countries that have confirmed their participation so far and are expected to increase in number over the coming weeks are Greece, Ireland, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, the United States, Palestine, India, Brazil, and France.
There will also be a number of establishments located along the Ta’ Xbiex waterfront, including Storeroom, Big Rons, and Black Egg, which are expected to offer live performances targeting the youth and electronic music.
‘I believe that such an event has been growing its popularity over the years due to the authentic cultural features that come out year after year. We choose to keep the event as genuine as possible with less commercial activity, but yet appealing thanks to the wonderful participation of the embassies based in Ta’ Xbiex and others who have joined us now or from previous editions.’ Max Zammit, the Mayor said.
The event is supported by the Malta Tourism Authority, the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Government and the Local Government Division
