We Got A Peek Inside One Of Malta’s Top Real Estate Agencies
With the real estate industry growing by the second (seriously you have at least one friend who works in property), we thought we’d pop into one of Malta’s top agencies and have a quick look around to see if it’s time for a career switch.
E&V Sara Grech welcomed us into some of the snazziest offices we’d ever stepped into; we were here to spend the day working with them and we were going to do it in style.
The company is currently run by a third-generation of real estate agents. But E&V Sara Grech has pushed boundaries since day one; from pioneering the digitization of real estate to being among the first to offer fixed salaries to agents.
So here’s how our day went down.
1. It started with an all-important selfie
2. We were then told we’d be meeting Sara Grech herself
Obviously, we weren’t as prepared as we thought, and the excitement showed.
3. And for a woman with her name on the door, she’s super sweet
And very easy to talk to. Obviously, she’s proud of the company and what it’s achieved, but Sara was very humble about the whole thing. She also has a bunch of interesting side projects, such as an association that helps train service dogs for people who need them.
The interview was going great, until we heard it…
4. A bark lured us further into her office
Where we met the cutest Shih Tzus ever. How she gets any work done with these furballs (yes, plural. Meet Aston, Bentley and Royce) bouncing around is a mystery to everyone. Personally, we’re just glad we got to meet them because: puppies.
5. We went down to meet some of the agents
And get a feel for what their day is like. The summary is pretty simple: real estate is thrilling, fast paced and creative.
To clinch a property or make a sale you have to think on your feet; be fast, but play smart.
6. And realised one of the most important factors of their offices is teamwork
There’s no in-fighting. Everyone works together and helps whoever they can. At the end of the day, everyone wins when the company grows. And honestly, the vibe between employees was great.
There was friendly banter, cute anecdotes and a genuine feeling of friendship between the agents; and considering we were invited to join their bowling game in the coming weeks, they seem ready to welcome new people in a heartbeat.
7. We left their offices jealous of all their perks…
From an in-house gym that’s in the process of being built, to a fixed salary that was offered to all new agents for a while, there were honestly too many perks to keep up with.
To make their agents life even easier, the Marketing Department has two full-time photographers to take pictures of the properties. Selling a house is so much simpler with professional shots of the place. And if you’re happier taking the shots yourself, they have an amazing camera you can borrow to release your inner artist on the property.
They’re also lucky enough to have an HR department that’s more than a bunch of pencil-pushers. The team know each agent personally and help them in any way they can. Sometimes a quick pep-talk is all you need to close the sale.
… And their offices…
Unsurprisingly, their office was designed down to the smallest detail. It’s sleek, shiny, and the sort of thing you’d see on Pinterest and pretend you’re going to do to your own home.
… And their drive
Everyone we spoke to said they woke up feeling motivated. From the challenge that comes with working, to the in-house goals that drive you to be the best you can be, these agents were charged up and ready to go.
“I love working here, and selling to first time buyers is always so exciting. Sure it’s harder to close the sale – but there’s something special about helping someone find their first home”
“I’m not exaggerating – this job changed my life. I actually wake up excited to go to work. It’s so weird but its true! There’s something special about tackling a challenge as a team”
