1. It teaches them to be problem solvers

And how to be critical thinkers from a young age. If a child is told to build a robot out of a pile of blocks, they’re going to have to use their brains to take things step by step to achieve the desired outcome.

If the robot doesn’t work, they’ll have to look at the work they did and figure out where they went wrong.

Building robots is a physical activity that gets kids using their tactile senses. They learn through doing, instead of listening, reading or writing. That means that children who are stronger tactile learners are given the chance to excel in the area.

3. Lessons include loads of physical activity

And some lessons even take place outdoors. Before engaging with products and programmes, kids will learn certain skills through games and physical activity.

Children won’t be sitting down for the entire lesson and will learn through movement too.

4. Children will learn to give precise directions and instructions

A robot cannot think for itself. At least not the ones that children will be interacting with in their lessons. So they will have to learn to be very precise with the instructions they give their robot.

“Walk forward and turn” won’t cut it; they’ll have to learn to be more specific and go with “walk six steps forward and then turn to the right”.

5. Lessons don’t follow a ‘traditional’ structure

Since robotics is heavily based on critical and analytical thinking, students are often left to solve problems on their own. Instead of being told what to do, they’ll have to think for themselves.

Children will have to harness their creativity and analytical abilities to complete the task at hand.

6. It’s not just tablets and computers

Coding isn’t just an online exercise; the kids will learn the basics of coding through play and interactive exercises with each other and their teachers. Any exercise that makes use of a tablet or computer is usually paired with an interactive exercise.

There’s more to technology than just staring at a screen, and this will teach kids exactly that.

7. It’s never too early or too late to start

Kids can start learning how to code at any age, and it’s never too late to pick up a new skill. So whether your child is 3 or 13 years old, they’re bound to benefit from these lessons.

And the skills they learn will equip them for the technology-based future they’re heading towards.
