The “voice” behind Freddie Mercury in the iconic 2018 film Bohemian Rhapsody is going to be gracing our shores this June and we’re lowkey freaking out. Okay. We’re highkey freaking out.

Marc Martel, who gave actor Rami Malek a helping hand (or vocal chord) on the movie, will be performing some of Queen’s greatest hits in the second edition of Rock the Fort, organised by TEN08 on Friday, June 14. Martel is often referred to as Freddie Mercury’s “voice doppelgänger” because of the uncanny resemblance his voice bears to the legendary Queen frontman.

Pretty impressive, right?

The concert is going to be a treat for all music lovers

Not only because of Martel’s honey-smooth vocal ability, but also because he’s going to be joined by some amazing local musicians as they perform at the Grand Harbour Marina, Vittoriosa, in the shadow of Malta’s most imposing fortification; Fort St Angelo. The event is once again being organised in aid of The Marigold Foundation.

This year’s concert promises to be a memorable one, and it’s probably the closest any of us will ever get to watching Freddie live. In fact, Queen’s official drummer Roger Taylor once said that “when you listen, close your eyes and you think it’s Freddie”.

Tickets are on sale now for just €15

And you can buy them here. What’s even better is that kids under the age of 14 can enter for free! So this is the perfect excuse for a cute family night out. Grab your friends and your kids and get ready for an exciting concert.
