A litter of nine puppies in a box have been found on a construction site in Luqa by a labourer who brought them into the Association for Abandoned Animals.

One of the workers brought them over this morning to save them from being crushed by machinery.

The shocking find has led to a public outcry, with many people calling for the puppies to be protected.

“Truly a shame. No other word for it. We are fed up and we are tired of this ongoing abandonment. Nine puppies of around four weeks old abandoned in a construction site in Luqa. One of the workers brought them over this morning so they will be spared from being crushed to death. Although they are licking the food, they all need to be given bottle milk.”

“They should still be with their mother,” the AAA says, “but instead they were thrown out like a garbage bag.”

The Association has appealed to the public for donations as the pups have not been weaned from their mother and will require puppy milk as they grow.

The dogs will not be put up for adoption as of yet as the Association wants to focus on keeping them safe and healthy for the time being.

If you would like to donate to the AAA, they have a PayPal link set up on the email address [email protected] or alternatively you can send a blank SMS to 50617350 (€2.33), 50618060 (€4.66), 50618910 (€6.99), 50619200 (€11.60) or address a cheque to the Association of Abandoned Animals at AAA PO Box 24 Birzebbugia.
