‘Adopt A Maltese Student’: Here’s How You Can Help Vulnerable Families During Back-To-School Crisis Season

The scholastic year is about to begin in Malta, but not every family can afford to get everything needed to send their children to school.

So the good people over at St Jeanne Antide Foundation have launched a scheme to help families in need to cover their children’s schooling costs. They’ve set up a unique donation initiative where people can help students get fully stocked and ready for school, helping another generation of Maltese get educated.

“We are reaching out to the public to help us raise the necessary funding to help these children pursue their studies,” Shakira Fenech, part of the SJAF, told Lovin Malta.

“We currently have a direct link for donations, and we are open to any good-to-use stationery,” she continued. “We would really love to bring people who want to help out together with vulnerable families.”

Helping these families cover their schooling costs could be a boon to parents who are struggling to find the cash to send their children to class with basics like pens, school uniforms, paper, calculators, and other related items.

At least 20 vulnerable children and social cases are currently involved in the scheme.

People can donate any good-to-use stationery they have, donate new stationery, or even ‘adopt’ a child and cover all the child’s schooling costs – and the way it works is simple.

  1. Families send a list of items their child needs to the foundation. Donors contact SJAF and will be given the lists of items needed.
  2. Donors then give the items to SJAF who will pass them onto the families, who will then send a thank you message back to the donor.

Tag someone who would love to get involved in this scheme and help vulnerable Maltese children get an education.
