An award-winning food and travel writer has just released her second cookbook, paying homage to Maltese food as well as one of her biggest inspirations, the late Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Meike Peters’ first book, Eat in My Kitchen (named after her food blog) won her the James Beard award in 2016 thanks to the use of some super traditional Maltese recipes.

But with her second release, she’s ready to pay tribute to her two European homes, Malta and Berlin, with a recipe for every day of the year; and with 2019 now entering its final quarter, we feel this book might just be the best Christmas present for any foodie out there.

The recipes largely focus on European tastes and, in a bizarre (but again, totally awesome) twist for a cookbook, tend to cover double portions – students, rejoice, your cooking skills are saved!

There are enough recipes in there to keep any avid kitchen-dweller busy right through to 2021, and if that isn’t enough to get your hyped for this book then maybe the fact that it made it onto the New York Times list of 13 best cookbooks of Autumn 2019 will.

And if that doesn’t still, then perhaps take a look at just what you’ll be trying your hand at making for yourself (and perhaps sharing if there’s any left after the first taste):

Speaking of her recipes in the book on her blog, Peters told her readers that what she loves about cooking and preparing her own food so much “is the fact that it’s totally in my hands, that I can make myself – and others – so unbelievably happy by only throwing a few ingredients together and indulging in this experience on an emotional, sensory, but also intellectual level.”

“I can’t think of anything more satisfying than creating a meal that reflects the seasons, my mood, and the desires of my taste buds.”

Neither can we, Meike, neither can we. There really is no better way to meet the needs of your appetite than giving it a great glorious timpana.

And if that isn’t getting your tummy grumbling then perhaps cast your mind to the last time you had a decent ravioli dish at home, and imagine it being made tenfold better with the help of ricotta and artichokes.

Pasta is love, pasta is life and we can’t wait to see what justice is served to the glorious carb in Meike Peter’s awesome new cookbook: 365: A Year of Everyday Cooking & Baking.
