Gozo’s Iconic Azure Window Reconstructed Out Of Light And Thin Air

Gozo’s iconic Azure Window has been “reconstructed”… out of light and in thin air.

The Azure Window collapsed into the sea during a storm back in 2017 – leaving a gaping hole at one of the islands’ geographical marvels.

From lights hooked up to fishing rods to paddle boards and drones, Dwejra’s beloved legendary rock formation owes its illuminated rebirth to Maltese photographer Mark Cassar.

This isn’t the first time he’s shared incredible creations he calls “light paintings”, but this latest endeavour is bigger than anything he’s ever done.

“My mind just never stops, I’m constantly thinking,” Mark told Lovin Malta on what led him to this impressive feat.

“You know how they say if you give a kid a hammer, everything will look like a nail? I’m pretty much that kid, and the camera is my hammer.”
