Badass Riders And Scooter Daddies: Here Are 7 Different Types Of Bikers You Will Meet In Malta

Article Featured Image

If you own a motorbike, you fit into a specific category of bikers. How, when, and why you use your bike will determine what category of biker you fit into. And you may think you don’t fit into one, but trust us. You do.

We’ve teamed up with Wotomoto to pick out the seven different types of bikers you’ll almost definitely come across here in Malta.

1. The Environmentalist

Motorbikes are substantially more environmentally friendly than cars, producing far less Co2 and spending less time on the road. The Environmentalist knows this, and will remind you any second they can.

They’ll also remind you that they get to avoid the crazy Maltese traffic. Any second they can.

The Environmentalist would ride a Super Soco TS.

2. The Badass Biker

The envy of all bikers and non-bikers alike. This person is equal parts sexy and scary, and they get their power from taking off their helmet in slow motion or revving the engine a couple of times before heading off.

We all wish we were this badass. But the truth is, we’re not even close.

The Badass Biker would ride an MV Agusta F3.

3. The Mechanic

This person loves their bike, maybe a bit too much. Their bike spends most of its time in the garage being waxed and polished and given all the TLC you could think of. It does make an occasional appearance on the Maltese roads, but this is pretty rare.

And don’t you even dare ask if you can ride their bike, because this person is more protective than a new parent.

The Mechanic would ride a Royal Enfield Classic 500.

4. The Scooter Daddy

Or mummy. Or older sibling. Or guardian. Daddy just sounded better. But you know exactly who this is; dressed in work attire and sporting a kid at the back of the bike who is the envy of all their classmates because of their stylish ride to work. Plus, it’s a great way to avoid the traffic and get everywhere on time.

Scooter Daddy also means something else, but we’ll let you figure that one out.

The Scooter Guardian would ride a Keeway CityBlade.

5. The Offroader

This person owns a car that they use to get around on a daily basis. But every now and then, the bike comes out for a trip to the bike track or the local countryside. Biking is more than a ‘hobby’ for these guys, it’s a sport.

Bonus points if you know how to do a trick that’s more than ‘just a wheelie’.

The Offroader would ride a Beta 300RR.

6. The Bragger

Professional photoshoots, selfies with their bike, profile pictures, videos of their bike being cleaned… there’s no way you don’t know that the person owns a motorbike. Because it’s all they talk about. And post about.

To be honest, you probably know more about this person’s bike than you do about their kid.

The Bragger would ride an MV Agusta Dragster RR Pirelli.

7. The Sunday Rider

The most Maltese of all bike riders. To be honest this is almost like an initiation into the local motorbike community. If you don’t spend at least one Sunday riding around the island with hundreds of other bikers.

The Coast Road is a wild place on Sundays here in Malta.

The Sunday Rider would ride the Royal Enfield Interceptor.

BONUS: The Newbie

They just got their motorbike. The first couple of times they go out with the bike, it’s a whole ‘thing’. They’re super cautious, letting friends and family know when they arrive at their destination. Until they slowly build up confidence and can’t even remember life without a bike.

The Newbie would ride a Benelli BN 125.
