Boys, Boys, Boys… These Are The X Factor Malta Contestants Who Qualified Last Night

Last night’s X Factor Malta saw the 12 boys who made it through Bootcamp go head to head for a place in the six-piece lineup billed for Ray’s house.

These are the final boys who’ll be facing off for a spot in the live shows…

1. Matt Blxck

After being sent home at the same stage of the competition last year with a saucy spin on Ariana’s Side to Side, Matt returned with a renewed and refreshed confidence.

Getting a bravu from Ira this year, an Alexism that we’ll have to wait for Chucky Bartolo to point out sometime this week Matt was given the first seat of the night and he remained in that spot throughout the duration of the episode. Yas!

2. Dav.Jr

This year’s heartthrob was also given after seeing him take on Blackbird by The Beatles, but not before basking in the audience’s cheers as he was given a standing ovation.

Who else is ready for Dav to drop the indie album of Spring 2020?

3. Giovanni

Giovanni took us to the old town road last night and rode all the way through to Judges’ Houses after knocking Nedved Galea out of his spot (which no one saw coming).

His rework of Ira’s 7th Wonder had us ready for more, but we’re also wondering how on earth he plans to top beating Chucky to covering the iconic Eurovision song.

4. Kyle Cutajar

Aged like a rich cheese, matured like a fine wine and ready to show Ray he’s got what it takes at the next stage of the competition.

Kyle Cutajar was one of the best they’d saved for last because if he sang first then the viewers may have dropped by a few hundred.

5. Karl Schembri

Because it wouldn’t be X Factor without the entertainment, and in Malta that means hitting a demographic of people aged 65+ who still enjoy a trip to the opera.

Schembri’s talent is undeniable, but sending that to Eurovision next year can only earn Malta a one-way ticket to not placing in the finals.

6. Jurgen Volkov

One of the few contestants to take to the stage and play an instrument (Dav.Jr’s guitar is always attached), Jurgen poured his heart and soul into a Queen medley that Ray dubbed “amazing”.

Jurgen won the second seat of the night, as we then waved goodbye to Noah Grech, Dayle Camilleri, Logan Borg, Jake Camilleri, Nedved Galea and Cain Portelli. Better luck next year, boys.

What do you think of Ray’s final choices ahead of Judges’ Houses?
