The end of the year is fast approaching. Can you believe 2022 is almost over?

You are looking forward for a fresh new start and new goals (even if they’re broken within the first week). You’re planning your outfit for NYE, and your friends already have three parties booked for the night. Bring on the New Year!

Not too fast. If you want to have a great start to the New Year, you have to make sure you end this year correctly.

To close one chapter and start a new one, you should ensure you’ve understood what you’ve read.

Here are 5 things to do before the New Year commences:

1. Build A Budget

Has 2022 broken your bank account? Look back at what you’ve spent and try to figure out where it all went wrong. This will help you create a new budget for the upcoming year. What behaviours can you change?

There are plenty of ways to budget – you can set your own limits for certain expenses or follow the 50/30/20 rule, you can also simply create a savings account and toss money in there.

2. Re-organise Your Wardrobe

If you want to start experimenting with new styles or fashions, the first utmost important thing you must do is go through all your clothes. Make sure that every item gives you joy, whether it be sentimental or aesthetical.

Donating unwanted clothing items gives others a chance to enjoy those items. Plus, there’s nothing more satisfying than getting rid of clothes and buying/thrifting new ones. New year, new clothes, new you.

3. Watch ‘Ċikku And The Chocolate Panto’

Watching a Panto is a yearly Christmas tradition for many – it’s not too late to catch this year’s Ċikku and the Chocolate Panto produced by Masquerade at the Manoel Theatre.

Based on the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this show is bound to make you laugh and set you up for a good new year.

4. Have A Self-Care Day

If you have any left-over vacation leave days, take a day off and do all the things you’ve been wanting to do for yourself. Go to a spa, order in Sushi, read a book, have a long bath, watch your favorite TV show and just relax. December has been long and tiring, treat this day-off like a treat.

5. Reflect On The Year You’ve Had And Create New Goals For 2023

What have you accomplished in the past year both professionally and personally? And what lessons have you learnt from the mistakes and shortcomings? With this new knowledge, you can set out to create goals for yourselves, or ‘resolutions’. Here’s an article with good resolutions if you’re out of ideas.

Don’t let the end of your year go to waste.

You could wait until the next year begins, which many have already opted for, however, there’s still time to do so much more!

What will you be doing to prep for the New Year?
