Driving between Swieqi and St Julian’s will soon be very different, with a flyover set to replace the current traffic light junction.

Infrastructure Malta unveiled the project today, stating it is intended to better manage traffic at the Regional Road junction and followed consultation with local councils and other stakeholders.

A planning application will soon be filed for the project, which is estimated to cost between €40 to €50 million and take some two years to complete.

Infrastructure Malta plans to split the project to ensure the road is never completely closed off during the works.

Traffic noise studies, geotechnical investigations, surveys of services utilities and other studies will be carried out as part of the process.
