Golden Ambassador: Buġibba Restaurant’s Fries Nab A Top Spot In ‘Best In Europe’ List
A popular fish and chip restaurant in Buġibba has been awarded 15th place out of 50 on global travel blog Big 7 Travel’s list of the best fries in Europe for 2019.
The 1.5 million following cast votes on each eatery, with the final decisions being deliberated by a panel of foodie experts
This ranking comes after Times of Malta recently awarded the place an overall 8/10 (with their food nabbing an 8/10, too).

The entry on the blog read: “This small island has some of the best fish in Europe,” and the listing is supposed to be for their fries, which says a lot about their food.
“They cook it here with style and panache.”
“Sitting here eating octopus and dipping your lemon-drenched fries into their house sauce is one of life’s great pleasures.”

David Borg, who heads the operations at this family-run St. Paul’s staple was taken by surprise when the Times had made him aware of the ranking and told the newspaper:
“To be ranked 15th is a very big honour, especially since I run a shop that’s barely the size of a car. I feel really humbled to be on it, I know many people work so hard to get on it.”
The Borg family have been in the fishing business since the 70’s with his mother, Connie, having owned a fish shop for 35 years. Talk about a real family affair.
