Hot lightning storms will ignite our skies more frequently due to rising temperatures being recorded across the globe.

Studies have found that the warming planet is resulting in a higher frequency of hot lightning strikes around the world and this can lead to a higher risk of lightning-induced wildfires.

As we experience warm humid nights, we will see more of these intense electrical storms which pose a significant threat to human safety.

Apart from this, lightning incidents have gone up by almost half, with a 47% increase observed.

It is estimated that lightning-caused wildfires will see a large increase along the Mediterranean basin and North America’s coasts by the 2090s.

Last year, was the second worst wildfire season to be recorded in Europe and in North America where the damages surpassed those of the previous years.
